The needle bearing u joint is a component that enables variable angle power transmission, used to change the position of the transmission axis direction. It is the "joint" component of the universal transmission device in the automotive drive system. The combination of bearing cross joint and transmission shaft is called universal joint transmission device. On vehicles with front engine and rear wheel drive, the universal joint transmission device is installed between the transmission output shaft and the main reducer input shaft of the drive axle.Vehicles with front engine and front wheel drive omit the transmission shaft.And bearing cross joint is installed between the front axle half shaft, which is responsible for both driving and steering, and the wheels.
It can be divided into non constant velocity universal joints, quasi constant velocity universal joints, and constant velocity universal joints.
① Non constant velocity needle bearing u joint. When the angle between the two axes connected by a universal joint is greater than zero.Motion is transmitted between the output shaft and the input shaft at a varying instantaneous angular velocity ratio, but the average angular velocity of the universal joint is equal.
② Quasi constant velocity needle bearing u joint. A universal joint that transmits motion at equal instantaneous angular velocities at a designed angle.While transmitting motion at approximately equal instantaneous angular velocities at other angles.
③ The constant velocity needle bearing u joint is a universal joint that transmits motion at equal instantaneous angular velocities between the output shaft and input shaft connected to the universal joint.
On front drive vehicles, each half shaft is equipped with two constant velocity universal joints. The universal joint near the transmission drive axle is the inner universal joint of the half shaft.And the one near the axle is the outer universal joint of the half shaft. On rear drive vehicles, the engine, clutch, and transmission are installed as a whole on the frame.While the drive axle is connected to the frame through elastic suspension, with a distance between them that needs to be connected. Uneven road surfaces, load changes, or differences in the installation of two assemblies during vehicle operation can cause variations in the angle and distance between the transmission output shaft and the input shaft of the drive axle main reducer. Therefore, in the transmission form of rear drive vehicles, double universal joints are used, with one universal joint at each end of the transmission shaft.Which ensures that the angle between the two ends of the transmission shaft is equal.Thereby ensuring that the instantaneous angular velocity between the output shaft and the input shaft is always equal.
