The way to check is to hold the pedal with your fingers and shake it left and right to see if there is any bearing. Check for gaps or looseness, and then use your fingers to turn the pedals to see if they are not turning smoothly. Generally speaking, more than 90% of pedal bearings need to be replaced when there is a problem; therefore, it is very important to develop the habit of regular cleaning and oiling.

During the pedaling process, if the bottom bracket makes a "clicking" sound or gets stuck, it means that the bearings installed at both ends of the bottom bracket may be abnormal. The simplest way to check the bottom bracket bearing is to hold the crank with your hands. Rock it back and forth to see if there are any gaps or looseness. If you want to check in more detail, you need to remove the crank and large chainring with special equipment. After removing the crank and large gear plate, you can check whether the outer cover of the bottom bracket bearing is worn, and turn the axis of the bottom bracket by hand to confirm the gap or looseness; when you want to put the removed crank and large gear plate back, It's best to use a torque wrench to avoid losing teeth or damaging the ball bearing in cycle caps.
