There are many applications of ceramic materials bearing. The ceramic bearing materials is composed of ion bonds and co built components, which not only has excellent high-temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, corrosion resistance, and good biocompatibility, but also has excellent and special electrical, optical, magnetic, piezoelectric, and thermoelectric functional characteristics. It is widely used in fields such as mechanical engineering, biomedical, electronic appliances, new energy, nuclear power, aerospace, national defense and military industry.

1、 Hybrid ceramic bearing materials:

Hybrid ceramic bearings are generally composed of rings made of bearing steel and bearing grade silicon nitride rolling elements, which have electrical insulation characteristics. Compared to bearings with steel rolling elements, the advantages of hybrid ceramic bearing materials(mainly using silicon nitride rolling elements as examples below) include

① Prevent current corrosion
② Effectively increasing speed
③ Long service life
④ High hardness and toughness
⑤ Higher bearing stiffness
⑥ Low sensitivity to temperature changes

2、 Full ceramic bearing materials
The races and balls of full ceramic bearing materials are made of ceramic materials, making it more difficult to process all ceramic bearings compared to hybrid bearing materials. Although hybrid bearings have performed well in many application fields, they are found in a very extreme few areas. Full ceramic bearings are divided into those with and without retainers. All ceramic bearings without retainers can continue to operate at extremely high temperatures. Full ceramic bearing materials have high corrosion resistance and can withstand most common acids. They do not corrode when exposed to water or salt water.
Some typical application areas of full ceramic bearings include nuclear magnetic resonance equipment, high vacuum environments, semiconductor manufacturing, radiotherapy, and other applications that require corrosion resistance, non conductivity, or non magnetism.

The following are the application characteristics of several typical ceramic bearing materials.

1. ZrO2 full ceramic bearing materials:
ZrO2 full ceramic bearing materials have excellent properties such as high and low temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, corrosion resistance, anti magnetic insulation, and self-lubrication. Therefore, it can work in special environments. Zirconia ceramic bearings without retainers can be used in environments up to 400 ℃.
2. Si3N4 full ceramic bearing materials:
Si3N4 full ceramic bearing materials not only have all the performance of ZrO2 full ceramic bearings, but also have the characteristics of light weight, good wear resistance, and high hardness. Compared with all ceramic bearings made of ZrO2 material, full ceramic bearings made of Si3N4 material are more suitable for bearings with high rotational speed and high load-bearing capacity, and can withstand higher temperatures than ZrO2 material. In addition, it has good high-temperature strength, mechanical oxidation resistance, high-temperature bearing capacity, and can resist corrosive gases. Zirconia ceramic bearings without retainers can be used in environments up to 1100 ℃.
3. Hydrofluoric acid resistant and wear-resistant SiC ceramic bearing materials
Compared with other types of ceramic materials, full ceramic bearing materials silicon carbide materials have higher chemical corrosion resistance, better strength, higher hardness, higher wear resistance, low friction performance, and are more suitable for the highest temperature. Zirconia ceramic bearings without retainers can be used in environments up to 1400 ℃.
4. Al2O3 ceramic bearing materials:
Alumina ceramic bearing materials use alumina ceramics with a content of 99% alumina. Its rolling element also uses alumina ceramics. Alumina ceramic bearings without retainers can be used in environments up to 1400 ℃.
