Hydraulic Rod End Bearings are spherical bearing units specifically designed for hydraulic cylinders and their piston rods, primarily used to connect hydraulic cylinders with external mechanical structures. Their core function is to accommodate misalignment in mechanical motion and smoothly transmit high load tension or thrust.

1. Hydraulic rod end bearings type and connection method
Hydraulic special connecting rod joints are usually divided into the following three categories based on their connection method with hydraulic cylinders:
Threaded connection type
Female hydraulic rod end bearings: with internal threads, directly screwed onto the end of the piston rod. Often equipped with slot clamping devices, the position is locked by tightening bolts to prevent loosening during operation.
Male hydraulic rod end bearings: With external threads, it can be screwed into external actuators or rods.
Weld on hydraulic rod end bearings
Round welding face: The bottom is cylindrical with locating pins, making it easy to perform circumferential welding at the end of the piston rod. Compliant with standards such as DIN ISO 12240-4.
Rectangular welding face: commonly used in heavy-duty designs, suitable for direct welding on the bottom seat of hydraulic cylinders.
Spherical Plain bearing type: Some hydraulic cylinders directly open holes at the end and press in independent radial spherical plain bearings, rather than a complete joint assembly.

2. Friction and maintenance characteristics of hydraulic rod end bearings
According to the different working pressure and frequency, hydraulic connecting rod bearings are divided into two basic types:
Maintenance required type
Material: Usually steel to steel (hardened, phosphated) or steel to bronze.
Characteristics: Able to withstand extremely high static and impact loads, suitable for alternating load conditions.
Maintenance: It is necessary to regularly add lubricating grease through the integrated lubrication nozzle to reduce friction and wear.
Maintenance free Hydraulic Rod End Bearings
Material: PTFE (Teflon) fabric, composite material, or sintered bronze is used as the sliding layer.
Characteristics: Extremely low friction, suitable for working conditions where regular lubrication is not possible or dry operation is required.
Limitations: In high impact or frequent vibration environments, the lifespan is usually lower than the steel to steel model that requires maintenance.

3. Main specifications and parameters of hydraulic rod end bearings
When selecting bearings, the following core data should be referred to:
Bore Diameter: The size of the ball hole in the center of a bearing, ranging from 10mm to 200mm.
Load Rating: including static load (shell strength) and dynamic load (spherical life).
Tilt Angle: The maximum allowable deflection angle, typically between ± 5 ° and ± 15 °.
Standard specifications: Common hydraulic industry standards include DIN 24338/ISO 6982 (heavy-duty) and DIN 24555/ISO 8133.
