Cast iron bearing materials are widely used in less stringent requirements of the occasion.The hardness of the journal must be higher than that of the bush.The working surface is carefully fitted with a mixture of graphite and oil.Good alignment between journal and bearing is required.
Porous bearings
"Self-lubricating" or "porous" threaded spherical bearing can be made by sintering metal powder and dipping it in oil.Bronze of various compositions is widely used in porous bearings and less iron.Due to its self-lubricating properties, the porous bearing is mainly used in cases where it is difficult or impossible to obtain reliable lubrication when conventional lubrication methods are used.
